It is very easy to open an account with Dundalk Credit Union – you will need 3 items – Proof of ID, Proof of PPS number and Proof of address. You can live or work in Dundalk to become a member. – How to open an account.
Yes. If your child is under 16 you will need to bring in photo ID, proof of PPS number and a birth certificate for your child. You will also need to bring in your own photo ID and proof of your current address. How to open a junior account.
Yes. Savings are guaranteed up to €100,000 per member across any accounts held.
Members can withdraw savings at any time providing they are not pledged as security on a loan. However, we encourage members to keep their savings, ensuring they continue to earn the annual dividend, enhance their credit worthiness and capacity to borrow in the future. Our Special Savers Loan is very popular with our members, allowing them to borrow up to the amount they hold in savings.
You are not just another customer but an active member of a highly successful financial co-operative. Yes, you have a share in the ownership of the Credit Union. Your savings with the credit union are called “Shares”. Each share you hold in your credit union is equal to €1. If the credit union has accrued a surplus at the end of the financial year this is given back to members by way of a dividend. The more shares you have, the greater the dividend you receive.
Your loan amount is only limited by the amount you can afford to pay.
Most loan applications are approved on the same day. However, some applications may take longer.
Yes. You can become a member and apply for a loan on the same day.
The maximum amount you can borrow is based on what you can afford to repay.
A special savers loan is called a secured loan. It is a loan that can be issued on the same day, once this loan is secured by the amount held in your savings.

Once you have your bank account details (IBAN and BIC code), we can help you to set up your direct debit or standing order.
Yes, they can be paid directly into your Credit Union account once you provide the third party/payee with your Credit Union IBAN and BIC code.

Yes, you can. Generally, if the transfer is carried out before 11am on any working day payment should reach your bank account on the same day. If transfer is carried out after 11am payment should reach your bank account on the next working day.
