Dundalk Credit Union has emerged as a standout winner at the prestigious 2024 All Ireland Credit Union Awards, held on Saturday, 19th October. The Credit Union proudly took home the coveted “Best Use of Social Media” award, recognising their outstanding success on TikTok, where they have brilliantly captured the attention and engagement of younger audiences.
The Dundalk Credit Union team has worked tirelessly to develop fun, creative, and relatable content that has resonated deeply with the community. The credit union’s TikTok account, which launched in July, has already gained over 5,000 followers, with some videos surpassing 150,000 views. This remarkable achievement not only highlights Dundalk’s innovative approach to reaching younger members but also demonstrates how the power of social media can strengthen connections within a local community.
Adding to the celebrations, David Donnelly, Head of Marketing and Communications, and Naomi O’Donoghue, Head of Sales and Business Development, each received awards for best-dressed man and woman of the night. Their stylish win showed that Dundalk Credit Union doesn’t just lead in digital innovation, but in fashion too!
The team’s success was celebrated not only by their own members but by credit unions across the country, many of whom showed their support on the night. Everyone was delighted to see Dundalk Credit Union’s creative and entertaining use of TikTok bring a fresh, modern approach to credit union engagement, setting a new benchmark for the sector.
The winning team were also invited onto Ireland AM on Thursday, 17th October, to mark International Credit Union Day. During the popular morning show, hosts Tommy Bowe, Muireann O’Connell, and Alan Hughes shone a spotlight on Dundalk Credit Union’s impressive TikTok success as part of a feature on the latest social media trends.
