Science Week 2024

To kick of Science Week 2024, Dundalk Credit Union & Carrickmacross Credit Union proudly hosted a spectacular science show at An Táin Arts Centre, Dundalk, and Inver College, Carrickmacross. With two electrifying performances and over 500 children in attendance, it was a celebration of curiosity, learning, and FUN!

From jaw-dropping experiments to hands-on activities, the shows sparked imaginations and encouraged our young learners to dream big. We had 8 children on stage for an engineering tower building challenge, we made 2 teacher’s hair stand on end using a Van De Graaff generator, we had a sports star on stage, showing that science doesn’t just exist in labs, and in what was no doubt the favourite moment for the audience, Dr. Niamh Shaw created a huge chemical explosion on stage!

Our aim was to show the children that science is inclusive, it’s all around us, it’s interesting and it can be fun. We wanted to spark their interest and plant the seed that they could be the inventor of a renewable energy/technology that will power our future.
